How To Make Sure You Hit Your KPIs When Working Remotely

Working remotely can be ideal for some people. They feel more comfortable and often become more productive due to this. Plus they aren’t losing any time on a long commute, and they are able to sleep for longer, which means they aren’t working feeling tired all the time.

However, some bosses may be reluctant to allow remote working since they aren’t able to keep as close an eye on their employees as they would if they were all in an office together.

When it comes to KPIs, some employers feel they need to keep their workers close by to ensure those targets are being hit.

It doesn’t have to be this way, of course. Working from home is not code for slacking, and it doesn’t mean you won’t make your targets. Read on to find out more.

Keep In Touch

Unless you don’t have set working hours and have deadlines that you need to work towards whenever you feel most productive, there is no reason for you to be out of communication with the rest of your colleagues – including your boss – at all.

You can set up a group chat that is always running in the background, or have daily performance reviews to ensure that the entire team is up to speed on what is happening in the business.

Having these meetings, and staying in touch with your colleagues, is a positive thing for remote workers. It keeps them on track and on schedule, and it means that they don’t feel quite so alone.

Loneliness is a problem that some home workers have, and if they know they can talk to their colleagues when they need to, they will stop feeling this way and work better.

Have The Same RulesCharleston Law

If you were working in an office, what rules would you need to follow? Would you only have a short break once an hour, and then a longer one at lunchtime?

Perhaps you would make a certain number of phone calls before you started looking at your emails.

Maybe you would schedule all your important personal calls to your dentist, doctor, school, or family lawyer Charleston Law on your lunch break or before or after you started working.

Don’t forget your dress code either; it’s tempting to wear your pajamas all day, but would you do that in an office?

Whatever rules you might follow for working outside of the home should be followed inside. That way, you will feel much more professional and productive, and your targets won’t feel so far away.

Find Out Why

When you are given KPIs by your employer, it’s crucial to find out why. You need to know what is going on ‘behind the scenes’ in the business, and why your targets are what they are.

Once you know that, it will be easier to reach them as you’ll understand why they are so important.

Not only that, but it will make reaching those targets much more satisfying and interesting, knowing that you are playing an important part in the overall business outcome.
