  7. The first public transport route in the world appeared exactly in Paris – it happened on March 18, 1662, on the initiative of Blaise Pascal.
  8. Not many people know that the ancient name of Paris is “Lutetia” (Lutetia). The name of this ancient settlement was formed from the Latin word “Lutum”, which literally means “mud”. It is believed that the city was founded by Celtic tribes, and later captured by the Gallo-Romans in 50 B.C
  9. Visiting Paris during World War II, Adolf Hitler was never able to reach the top of the Eiffel Tower. The citizens of the city intentionally disabled the elevator control. Since then, the expression “Hitler conquered France, but never conquered the Eiffel Tower” became popular!
  10. Watch out! The Eiffel Tower is number one in the list of the most disappointing tourist attractions.
