Stay Warm While Ice Skating and Visiting Beautiful Bellevue Washington

The city of Bellevue, Washington, was founded by Aaron Mercer and William Meydenbauer in 1869. It’s grown to become a diverse global city that is home to some of the most innovative technology companies in the world.

Located at the heart of the Eastside of Seattle, it combines the best parts of a mid-sized city and a large urban center. There’s just so much to do in Bellevue that you’ll want to plan a weekend or mini-vacation to take it all in.

About the Area

Bellevue is a word that was derived from the French words “belle vue,” which means “beautiful view,” and it’s certainly true to its name. The city offers many recreational opportunities that include various trails and parks, as well as Ranger hikes, climbing walls, and skateparks located at community centers which have specialized offerings like kayaking on the Mercer Slough or shopping in Bellevue Square which is the regions largest shopping centers, the Lodge, One Lincoln Tower, Kelsey Creek Farm, Bellevue Youth Theatre, Bellevue Botanical Garden, or Bravern downtown.

One of the main attractions is the Bellevue Downtown Ice Rink, which is located in the heart of downtown Bellevue. Many people plan an entire trip to Bellevue just to visit the rink.

The Bellevue Downtown Ice Rink offers free skating on Mondays, stroller skating, skate lessons, and many other special promotions as well as free. The ice rink offers open-air ice skating and is one of the largest and its region and offers many events which include a winter ice skating celebration and grand opening for the season on Friday, November 29, 2019, from 11 AM to 11 PM. Other events include husky skate day on Sunday, December 15, 2019, from noon to 2 PM. Skaters receive a gold cupcake and get to skate with Husky Santa. $4 is removed from the admission if you show your UWAA membership card or wear your University of Washington gear.

Stroller skating is also available beginning December 5, 2019, from 1 PM to 3 PM every Thursday. Parents can push their child’s stroller on the ice rink while skating, making some fun memories with their young ones.
