What Is Killing Your Online Sales?

When you run a business that relies on online sales and you find you’ve hit a slump and those sales are much less than they were before, it’s crucial you do something about it as soon as you can. Unless you do, the problem isn’t likely to solve itself, and you may find that your sales fall so low you can’t come back from the issue.

Before you can solve the problem, you need to know what that problem is. This is why it’s vital to investigate immediately when you notice your online sales are drying up. The sooner you can fix the problem, the better it will be for your business. Here are some of the main reasons why this might be happening to get you started.

A Social Media Problem

Although it would be a bad idea for any business to rely solely on social media for any kind of marketing, it can be extremely useful when combined with other ideas. However, many business owners create social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and other sites and then don’t do much with it. They might post the occasional special offer, but otherwise, it’s forgotten.

The problem is, an outdated and neglected social media account can prove to be detrimental when it comes to your sales. Potential customers might think that you have gone out of business or that you don’t care enough to make an effort to keep your pages up to date, for example. Plus, if you do have new products or you have some great ideas about content marketing, they won’t see this either. You’re missing out on a great opportunity when you don’t use social media in the right way.

What is killing online sales: An Unsecure Website Unsecure Website

Having an unsecured website means that your customers could be at risk every time they buy something from you, and this in itself could cause your business to slow down or even have to close altogether. However, even if you haven’t had a data breach and your customers’ details have always been safe, you might still find that an unsecured website is an issue.

Customers are a lot savvier when it comes to buying things online now than they’ve ever been, and that means they will know exactly what it means when your website is unsecured. They’ll often see that this is the case and stay away, buying from competitors with better security.

To fix this issue, you must update your site security. In fact, hiring experts who can do this and more, especially if they have dedicated servers to ensure your business is even safer from cyberattacks, will help hugely. Customers will be more confident when buying from you.

Not Establishing Trust

A potential customer is only going to buy from you if they feel they can trust you. Trust can be a difficult thing to establish in the online world since you’re not working face-to-face as you would in a physical store. One way to establish trust is to have a secure website, and another is to interact on social media, but there is something else you can do too.

You can provide excellent content. When your blog is kept up to date and you fill it not with sales pitches but with good content that is valuable to the people reading it, they will trust that you know what you’re talking about and that you will help them and offer good quality products. As well as a blog, you could have a video channel on YouTube that does the same thing.
