5 Subtle Warnings That You Are Dehydrated

Water is one of the most important components of our life and the only thing we forget to consume in desired quantities for our body. Amidst all the food and cake home delivery in Delhi that we enjoy almost every day with our friends and family, we deprive our body of the required amount of water, leading to many health problems.

Yes, your body might be dehydrated, and you may not even notice it because either you are too busy or overworking that drinking an adequate amount of water tends to slip off your mind.

It is true that juggling between professional and personal tasks is truly tough, but is it true that lately, you have been feeling a  little too tired, have trouble concentrating, and your body hurts? If yes, these may be the signs of dehydration in your body. Since 70% of the human body is water, we need to continuously hydrate our body for the proper functioning of all the organs.

Whenever you feel thirsty, it is a sign that your body requires water. However, you often tend to ignore these signs and only realize when you reach that point where you are already dehydrated. Here are a few signs that signify that your body is rehydrated and requires water to function properly.

Hunger Cravings

Hunger cravings, especially for sweets, signify that your body is dehydrated and requires water. Many people often think that they are hungry when actually all they need is water. So, the solution is to drink water and avoid gaining weight and all those unnecessary extra calories by consuming sugary treats.

Also, when you drink more water, you are less likely to get hungry and can also cut on all those extra calories that you consume in the name of being hungry. It is a fact that when you are dehydrated, your body craves chocolates and salty things. However, all you need is ample water to satiate your cravings. You can also curb your cravings by consuming water-rich foods like berries, oranges, cucumber, celery, and grape tomatoes.

Headache And FatigueWarnings That You Are Dehydrated

If you feel a little more than usually lightheaded, tired, and sluggish these days, this might be your body’s way of telling you that you are dehydrated. Even mild dehydration can cause a headache and migraine headaches, too, and therefore, your body needs to stay hydrated all the time.

Apart from getting headaches, dehydration may also make you feel tired and not get the desired sleep. However, consuming water can immediately help you get relieved of the headache and the tiredness within a few hours only. The headache caused by dehydration is more of a pulsating ache on both sides of your head.

Muscle Cramps

When your body does not have enough water, it cannot cool itself the way it should, which may lead to muscle cramps caused by dehydration. Muscle cramps can be caused at night while sleeping, exercising, or sitting on your chair at work.

Muscle cramps happen more often in hot weather, and they can also occur in cooler weather when they might be milder or come on slower. When your body tends to get hot, that is when you are most likely to get muscle cramps, for that is when your muscles work harder and cool down your body, but due to lack of water, they seize up with the heat causing severe cramps.

Bad Breath

Dehydration can prevent your body from making saliva; however, saliva is essential for the body due to its antibacterial properties. Water is believed to contain bacteria that help produce saliva and save you from bad breath.

Drinking little or no water can hinder saliva formation in your mouth and facilitate the growth of bacteria in the mouth, leading to an unpleasant taste in your mouth and bad breath.

Dry Skin

One of the biggest signs of your body telling you that you are dehydrated is dry skin. If your skin remains “tented” after being pinched and takes a little while to return to its normal and flat appearance, this means that you are dehydrated. Skin loses elasticity without hydration, and therefore, it is important to drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and functional.

Now you understand the importance of water in your body? So, drink water regularly and hydrate your body to the fullest and notice these subtle signs where your body might just be hinting that it requires water.
