1. Consistency is Key
As was noted above, building muscle requires a great deal of dedication.
You must be willing to sacrifice at least some of your time, foods, hobbies, and interests to get your workouts in. Failure to exercise on a consistent basis will yield little to no results.
You’re not always going to want to go to the gym. But, if getting ripped is essential to you, you’ll force yourself to go.
You’re not always going to want to refrain from eating junk food, but in most cases, you’ll have to.
Keeping a consistent workout routine, and maintaining a healthy diet are the keys to building muscle.
2. Overtraining Will Hurt Progress
While working out on a regular and consistent basis is key to building muscle, there is such a thing as working out too much.
It’s recommended that you have three to five weight training sessions every week. Working out any more than this will not only prevent your muscles from growing, it will cause you extraordinary exhaustion.
Even if training seven days a week is yielding positive results, it will eventually backfire. Working yourself in such a manner is like asking for an injury.
You’ll take on an injury or a sickness and won’t be able to get into the gym as much as you’d like. In essence, your progress will hit a snag, and might even decline.
3. All Muscles Matter
One of the mistakes of novice bodybuilders is targeting only the glamour muscles: the biceps, the pectorals, the glutes, and so forth.
While you should be working out these muscles, they are only a small piece of the puzzle. In order to gain substantial amounts of muscle, you’ll need to work out all your muscles.

4. Rest is a Necessity
Now you know that there is such a thing as too much training. You need to allow yourself to rest at some point.
This will allow broken down muscles to rebuild themselves, allowing them to get bigger over time.
It will also give your body a much-needed break. After all, the human body is not meant to lift exceedingly heavy objects each and every day.
And it’s not only rest between workouts that you need. You also need to get adequate amounts of sleep at night. Aim for between seven and nine hours of sleep every night.
5. Protein is a Priority
If there’s one macronutrient you should ingest to build muscle mass, it’s protein.
Protein works to regenerate muscle that gets broken down during workout sessions.
If you’re not consuming adequate amounts of protein, you are going to have a lot of trouble building muscle.
At a minimum, on a daily basis, you should be consuming a gram of protein for every pound you weight.
So, if you weigh 200 pounds, you should be consuming at least 200 grams of protein daily. Consuming more protein than this is not a detriment; consuming less typically is.
6. Carbs Keep You Going
These days, people talk about carbs like they’re the bogeyman.
However, the truth of the matter is that we need carbohydrates. After all, carbs are the energizers of the body, staving off exhaustion and allowing us to get good workouts in.
Generally, around 50% of your daily intake should be from carbohydrates.
7. Steroids are Not Needed
While steroids can undoubtedly help you to build muscle fast, they are far from a necessity. You can still build plenty of muscle without the use of steroids

8. Can’t Forget Cardio
