Muscle Facts to Know If You Want to Get Ripped

Protein? Steroids? Rest? What do all of these have to do with getting ripped? Check out the ten muscle facts you need to know to build muscles. Contrary to what you believe, building muscle is not easy.

Getting ripped requires a great deal of effort and dedication over a very long period. If you’re not willing to put in the work, there’s no reason to even get started.

If, on the other hand, you are willing to put in the work, there is a lot you have to learn. By garnering knowledge and putting that knowledge into action, you can build some serious muscle. Without further ado, here are ten muscle facts you need to know if you want to build muscles.

Consistency is Key

As was noted above, building muscle requires a great deal of dedication. You must be willing to sacrifice at least some of your time, foods, hobbies, and interests to get your workouts in. Failure to exercise consistently will yield little to no results. You’re not always going to want to go to the gym. But, if getting ripped is essential to you, you’ll force yourself to go.

You’re not always going to want to refrain from eating junk food, but in most cases, you’ll have to. Keeping a consistent workout routine, and maintaining a healthy diet are the keys to building muscle.

Overtraining Will Hurt ProgressHow to not Overtraining

While working out on a regular and consistent basis is key to building muscle, there is such a thing as working out too much. You should have three to five weight training sessions every week. Working out any more than this will prevent your muscles from growing and cause you extraordinary exhaustion.

Even if training seven days a week is yielding positive results, it will eventually backfire. Working yourself in such a manner is like asking for an injury. You’ll take on an injury or a sickness and won’t be able to get into the gym as much as you’d like. Your progress will hit a snag, and might even decline.

All Muscles Matter

One of the mistakes of novice bodybuilders is targeting only the glamour muscles: the biceps, the pectorals, the glutes, and so forth. While you should be working out these muscles, they are only a small piece of the puzzle. In order to gain substantial amounts of muscle, you’ll need to work out all your muscles.

There are plenty of muscles that will never show through your skin but are key to upping your strength levels. By working out these muscles, you allow yourself to lift progressively heavier. This allows the biceps, the abs, the glutes, and the other glamour muscles to grow.

Rest is a Necessity

Now you know that there is such a thing as too much training. You need to allow yourself to rest at some point. This will allow broken-down muscles to rebuild themselves, allowing them to get bigger over time.

It will also give your body a much-needed break. After all, the human body is not meant to lift exceedingly heavy objects each and every day. And it’s not only rest between workouts that you need. You also need to get adequate amounts of sleep at night. Aim for between seven and nine hours of sleep every night.

Protein is a PriorityProtein is a Priority

If there’s one macronutrient you should ingest to build muscle mass, it’s protein. Protein works to regenerate muscle that gets broken down during workout sessions.

If you’re not consuming adequate amounts of protein, you are going to have a lot of trouble building muscle. At a minimum, on a daily basis, you should be consuming a gram of protein for every pound you weight.

So, if you weigh 200 pounds, you should be consuming at least 200 grams of protein daily. Consuming more protein than this is not a detriment; consuming less typically is.

Carbs Keep You Going

These days, people talk about carbs like they’re the bogeyman. However, the truth of the matter is that we need carbohydrates. After all, carbs are the energizers of the body, staving off exhaustion and allowing us to get good workouts in. Generally, around 50% of your daily intake should be from carbohydrates.

Steroids are Not Needed

While steroids can undoubtedly help you to build muscle fast, they are far from a necessity. You can still build plenty of muscle without the use of steroids But, if you want to be a professional bodybuilder, you may feel you have to use steroids.

In order to optimize your steroid use, there are a few different supplements you’ll have to take along with them. Shop this website to get your hands on those supplements.

Can’t Forget Cardio

While you can build muscle without subjecting yourself to cardio, you will rarely see any of your progress. After all, for muscles to show, you will need to keep some weight off. How do you keep losing or maintaining weight? By doing cardio regularly.

In order to gain muscle, you must work out regularly and eat a proper diet. As you now know, this diet must consist of protein and carbohydrates. But, consuming protein and carbohydrates at all hours of the day is not a great way to optimize your muscle growth.

The key is to consume these macronutrients at the right times. Not only should you be consuming carbs and protein at the beginning and end of days, but you should also be consuming them right after workouts.

It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint

It’s important to remember that muscle growth takes time, a lot of time. You’re not going to look like Schwarzenegger in six months. Most beginner bodybuilders can only gain around 10 pounds of muscle in this timeframe. The key is to stay dedicated and to maintain your diet. Don’t get discouraged when you’re not seeing the results you hoped for; they’ll come.
