How to Organize the Perfect Netflix Night

Autumn is upon us. That means the leaves are changing colors, the days are getting shorter and darker, and we’ll need our umbrellas a lot more. The perfect season to crawl up on the couch with a soft blanket and some hot cocoa and, of course, movies or tv show on Netflix.

Invite some friends or make a night of it with the family. Make sure you’ve decided on a movie you are all going to enjoy, whether that’s choosing a scary movie from the selection of HellHorror movies, or a Disney classic.

Sure, you can hop on the couch and start a movie, but with a little more effort, you can organize the perfect Netflix Night. Here are a few tips.

Netflix Night: Create Own Home Theatre

Chances are you haven’t got those big red movie chairs at home. But a nice, comfy couch is a good start for a relaxing movie night, and to create your own home theatre, all you really need is lots of soft places to sit, even more, soft pillows and blankets. So drag all your soft couches and fluffy mattresses to the big screen.

Talking about the screen, for the perfect Netflix Night, you’ll need a big screen. If your tv isn’t that big, you could use a projector and a white sheet to show the movie or series on. Crank up the volume, and turn up the bass on your sound system for that real movie-theatre feeling.

Make sure your internet is up to speedMake sure your internet is up to speed

Don’t you hate it? You’re in the middle of a movie, hanging on the edge of your seat when suddenly the screen freezes and the connection is lost. To make sure your perfect Netflix-Night isn’t ruined by failing technology, make sure your internet is up to speed.

To be sure you’ve got the fastest working internet available, it can be a good idea to check if you’re using the best internet provider.

You can compare providers (translated in Dutch; internet vergelijken) online and choose which one suits you best. On top of that, you can speed up your connection by changing your network type from DSL or satellite to fiber optic internet (translated in Dutch; glasvezel). That way, your internet connection travels with the speed of light (well, almost), and you’ll get to enjoy a superfast internet connection.

Let’s talk about snacks, baby

Maybe the most important element for an unforgettable Netflix-Night is the food. Ah, who are we kidding? Snacks are the most important part of any night. So to make sure your movie night has all the ingredients to be epic, you must have tons of different snacks.

And in this case, just a bag of Doritos isn’t going to cut it. It would be best to think bigger and remember that you don’t want to spend have the night in the kitchen preparing snacks. Easy and tasty are the keywords.

Of course, you’ll have popcorn, because that’s a classic that you absolutely need during every movie night. Pimp your potato chips experience by serving a surprising dip with it.

And to please the sweet tooth in the audience, a big bucket of ice-cream will come in handy. Throw in some M&Ms for a little crunch. If you also want to serve some hot snacks, like chicken wings or small meatballs, you can use the oven to make them, so the only thing you’ll have to do is turn it on.

Choose beforehand

what to watch on NetflixIf you add up the amount of time you’ve spent debating what to watch on Netflix and bickering about it with your spouse, you’d probably be in shock.

More often than not, it seems to take forever to choose something from the enormous list, and when you’ve finally agreed on a movie or series, one of you falls asleep five minutes in.

So to make sure your perfect Netflix-Night isn’t ruined by an endless debate about what to watch, choose beforehand which movie you will be showing. Pick a theme or a genre to build the night around and announce this to your viewing partners, so they’ll know what they’re in for.
