6 Things To Consider When Moving House

Things To Consider When Moving House? Moving house is a huge life event; in fact, it is so huge that a survey by online estate agents Yopa found that 40% of homeowners said that moving house was the most stressful event they’ve had to overcome, even more than getting divorced, which was 34%, more stressful than having a baby at 31%, starting a new job which was 27% and getting married which came out at 25%.

Now that’s not to put you off, but what it means is that when you’re thinking about moving house, there’s a lot to consider, and you need all the help you can get. So, aside from picturing yourself in your dream home and having a perfect life, what do you need to consider before making an offer?

Location

Always remember that while you can change pretty much everything in a house, in fact, you could even knock it down and build your dream home, but what you cannot change is the location, the neighborhood, and neighbors in the area of your dream home.

When you’re looking for your new home, really think about the location and where it is compared to where you work and where your kids go to school. If you are looking in the beautiful state of South Carolina, you could check out these Greenville SC homes for sale to see if any of these could become part of your next chapter in life.

Things To Consider When Moving House: Cost

This is a pretty big one, so you need to make sure that you have the deposit needed and know your budget. Remember that there are also going to be solicitors fees, estate agent fees, paying for a removal company, and any work that needs doing to the house once you move.

If you already own a house, you need to know how much you’re going to get for yours, and you’ll also need someone to buy your home to secure the money you have for the new house. If you’re looking for a quick sale, if you’ve found somewhere you want to move too, and you don’t want to wait, then a home buyer company could be the answer.

Size

Buying a large house might be the dream, but do think carefully about what you actually need because with a larger house comes larger bills, more to clean, higher taxes, and more money on decorating and filling it with furniture.

Bedrooms and BathroomsThings To Consider When Moving House

Only look at houses with the exact number of bedrooms and bathrooms that you want because there is no point falling in love with a home, which isn’t the right size. If you think you might be able to build an extension in the future, then find out about the legalities of this now.

Storage

Older houses often don’t have a lot of storage space, whereas more modern homes for sale tend to have big closets and lots of storage. Just make sure you are fully aware of how much stuff you have and if it will fit in the new house.

Lighting

When you’re looking around potential houses, think about where the light is and where you get the natural sunlight. Perhaps visit a couple of times and make sure they’re different times of the day to see which rooms get the sun. Also, check out the electrical outlets and fixtures to ensure there is enough for your lighting needs.
