For a sound sleep, you need a comfortable place to rest on. For that matter, the mattress you use for your bed plays a vital role. The mattress you sleep in will affect your sleep and these your overall mental and physical performance.

While choosing the mattress that suits your needs can be very overwhelming for most people. There are tons of variety in beds in the market, with so many options, it becomes tough to find the one that satisfies your needs. Many aspects matter while buying matters, but the size is one factor to have a watch carefully. Mattresses come in so many sizes like a crib, twin, full, queen, and king. Many people are confused about how big  is a full-size bed, and it differs from the rest.

Type of mattresses

You will find different kinds of mattresses based on material composition, purpose, and sizes. Here, we shall discuss the various mattress sizes and how they vary according to people’s needs and other criteria in detail. Here we go.

  • Single size mattress

Primarily used in homes for toddlers and easy teenagers. It is also used in hostels, dorm rooms, hotels with two beds in a single room. In-home, even if your house is small, this bed can provide enough space for your child to have someplace to play.

  • Full-size mattress

It is more comprehensive than a single-size mattress. A full-size mattress is ideal for young adults, small-statured couples, in guest rooms, for bachelors and young graduates. It also depends on the size of a person sleeping and preferences. If someone rolls a lot while sleep with them full-size bed would be too small for that person; if kids or pets sleep with a couple; then a full-size bed would be very compact for them, and even if someone is taller, wider, and bulkier than average full-size mattress won’t be a good purchase.

  • Queen size mattress

It is a good choice for the new couple if your room is small and an apartment building as it will be easy to carry and transport. It is ideal if your room is smaller than the master bedroom yet big enough to fit all furniture and yet have walking space. If the room is large, it depends on the person’s personal need between more areas around the bed or large bed.

Most couples choose queen-size. It gives each person about 30 inches of space. It is perfect for two people sleeping together who cannot have king-size beds because of tight budgets or small room sizes.

  • King size mattress

It is not much longer than a queen-size mattress but much broader and provides a lot of room to stretch and roll. If some couples like to share beds with their children and pets, it is an ideal choice, but one should carefully check the dimension of their room before getting a king-size mattress because it does take up a lot of space.

  • Crib mattress

Ideal for newborns, infants, and toddlers. They are tiny and take up very little space, and can fit in any room size. You can accommodate a crib in your master bedroom with a full-size bed and keep a watch on your child.

Doctors recommend crib mattresses to be firm. A too-soft mattress can affect the sleeping position of your babies. When your toddler is about 2 years of age, you can shift to single, full/ double, or even queen-sized beds for your child to sleep comfortably.

Besides that, you may find various other sizes, but what we have listed are the standard sizes available in the market. You can also opt for the California king-sized mattress to create a luxurious style statement for your bedroom.

Type of mattresses: full-size vs. queen size type of mattresses

Often it’s a big confusion to decide between a full-size mattress and a queen bed. Both full-size mattresses and a queen-size mattress are among the common choices for an adult bedroom.

Full-size mattress measures 53*75 inches are suitable for growing teenagers, young adults, bachelors, and couples. Queen Size mattresses 60*80 inches and are ideal for couples and people with above-average height and health.

Can a full-size mattress accommodate two people?

A full-sized double bed mattress can fit two people. But it will not give enough space leaving a space of approximately 26-27 inches to each person. It is slightly smaller than the queen-size mattress and much smaller than the king-size bed.

But in the end, it is all a matter of personal preference, size of the person, budget, and sleeping style. But it is suggested to go for a queen-sized mattress or a king-sized one; for two people.

How to choose an ideal mattress for you?
