7 Wellness Practices You Can Do at Home

It’s no secret that wellness has been the buzziest word in the health space over the past several years. Honestly, wellness can mean something different to everyone.

Whether you think of wellness as self-care and making sure to take time for yourself, or you see it strictly as staying healthy through exercising and healthy eating, there are many wellness practices you can do at home to start living a healthy lifestyle. Keep scrolling to check out our seven wellness practices you can start doing at home today.

Don’t be afraid to take a night for yourself

It can be so easy to forget about your own needs and not take those extra self-care moments for yourself. It’s also very important to remember that you don’t need to say yes to every single plan that comes your way. Not in the mood to go out? No problem!

t’s important to always do what you want even if that means turning down a few invites here are there. During your self-care night, you can do anything from binging that new Netflix show to taking a bath or trying out a new haircare routine or face mask. It’s truly up to you to find what works best for you when unwinding and relaxing.

Keep a cute water bottle with youWellness Practices You Can Do at Home

We’ve all heard this before: Make sure you’re drinking enough water. But do you know how much water you really should be consuming each day? At a minimum, the average adult should be drinking 64 ounces of water a day. This may sound like a lot of water, but trust me, once you get one of those big tumbler cups or water bottles, you’ll be drinking water quicker than you ever thought you would. Plus, having a cute tumbler or water bottle, makes drinking your daily water so much easier.

Meal prep over the weekend

If you’re trying to practice wellness at home by incorporating healthy meals into your diet, meal prepping over the weekend is a great way to do this! You’re able to cook all your food at once so you won’t even have to think about cooking during the week. This is especially helpful for people who work during the day. When you meal prep, you won’t be tempted to eat food out as often throughout the week, so you may even save some money too!

Make sure to get seven to eight house of sleep per night

It’s no secret, that sleep is essential for our health. Adults should get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep every night. If you find that you’re often getting less than 7 hours of sleep, set a bedtime for yourself and try it for just one week. Trust me, after one week you’ll notice such a difference.

Did you know your phone can even help you with this? The iPhone comes with a sleep feature that allows you to set a bedtime and wake-up time for yourself. Between those hours, your phone notifications will be silenced and your apps will have a time limit on them, reminding you your phone is only in sleep mode.

Try a meditation appTry a meditation app

Whether you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or just want to do something other than scroll first thing in the morning or right before you go to sleep, meditation can be a great wellness practice to start. There are many free apps you can download right to your phone that give you guided or unguided meditations to try. Ranging as short as two minutes all the way up to an hour. It’s all about finding a style that works best for you.

Incorporate 30 minutes of exercise per day into your daily routine

Moving your body every day is so important. It can be anything from a simple walk outside to a HIIT workout you’ve found on YouTube. No matter what type of exercise you’re feeling for the day, adding physical can help relieve stress, make you feel more alert while working, and boost your overall mood.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to start running marathons or doing crazy intense workouts. However, once you start doing 30 minutes of exercise a day, you’ll notice how much of an improvement it can have on your life. A simple tip to get more excited about your workouts is to choose outfits and hairstyles that make you feel comfortable and confident. Even an invigorating deodorant can make a difference. Just double-check your deodorant hasn’t expired.

Find a creative outlet or hobbyFind a creative outlet or hobby

Having a creative outlet or hobby you like to do just for fun is a big wellness practice many people glance over. It’s important that you have an activity you like to do out of pure joy that doesn’t work. Hey, and bonus points if it’s creative! This can be anything from playing an instrument, painting, or cooking.

Whether you decide to splurge on that adorable cup you keep eyeing on Instagram so you’re motivated to drink more water, or you make it your mission to find a new hobby that excites you, adding small wellness practices into your life at home can help make you feel more relaxed and energized.
